Juicy Finds Vol.2

Here's your monthly dose of “Juicy Finds,” a list of my favourite things 🍊

Recent Reads

I just finished reading ‘Steal Like an Artist' by Austin Kleon. It's a short but fun read, jam packed full of antidotes and tips about the creative process. One of my favourite quotes from the book:

“Your brain gets too comfortable in your everyday surroundings. You need to make it uncomfortable. You need to spend some time in another land, among people that do things differently than you. Travel makes the world look new, and when the world looks new, our brains work harder.”

This book is perfect if you're looking for a little creative boost 😘

Artist Spotlight

This months shout out goes to the incredibly talented Manon Louart 🥳 If you love soft pastel colours and magical animations then be sure to check out her Instagram

Tools I'm Obsessed With

Ever wonder which platform I use to send out these emails? If you've been thinking about creating a Newsletter, but don't know where to start, I'd highly recommend checking out Flodesk. In the past I've tried Mailchimp and Convert Kit and found them both incredibly difficult to use, but ever since switching over to Flodesk it's honestly made sending out emails so fun and easy!

The best part? You don't even have to have a website to start growing your email list. Flodesk have created stand-alone landing pages that you can easily add as a link in your Instagram bio.

You'll you can try them for 30 days for FREE (no credit card required) and if you choose to stay on, you'll get 50% off your first year-- it'll be just $19/month!

Lesson Learned

Consistency is WAY more important than perfection.

I used to be a perfectionist (wow that felt good to say out loud) Now don't get me wrong, having high standards can definitely have it's benefits, but it would also be a real pain in the butt if I ever needed to get things done quickly 😅

There have been so many times where I've delayed putting stuff out there because it wasn't ‘perfect’, but I soon realised that aiming for ‘perfection’ is unattainable and completely unrealistic. What we should be aiming for is consistency!

Showing up time and time again, even if you don't feel ready, is one of the fastest ways to becoming a better artist! If I'd have waited until I was 100% ready to post my first ever Skillshare class, I would still be waiting now…

So keep putting yourself out there - you'll be amazed at how much you'll grow 💕
